Ur Omry

Chairman of ITS Israel Organization, and ITS Systems Consultant

Ur Omry earned a B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel), an M.S. Degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from Stanford University (Stanford, California), and an MA Degree in Philosophy from Tel Aviv University (Tel Aviv, Israel).

Following many years in the USA, with a professional career focused mainly on operations research and management with major airlines, Ur returned to his native Israel and held CEO positions in several high-tech companies and start-up businesses. He then completed 10 years as the CTO of Derech Erets (the operator of Highway 6, a free-flow 100 km toll road), and in recent years he has been working as an independent consultant in the area of ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems). Ur has mostly been involved in highway tolling (mathematical modeling as well as implementation), HOV/HOT lanes, Traffic Management, and Vehicle Occupancy Detection projects. 

In addition, Ur is the Chairman of the ITS Israel organization, in which he deals with ITS strategy setting, promoting ITS technologies within transportation corporations, and cooperating with academic institutions, international government agencies, and other
Intelligent Transportation organizations.
