Q: Who can enter Driving Innovation?
A: The Driving Innovation Competition is open to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students currently studying at a university in the Middle East.
Q: In which language can I submit my project?
A: All projects to be submitted in English only.
Q: How do I submit my project?
A: All submission should be sent through our online submission form. Complete the ''Download Application Form'', after which you will receive a link to download the relevant submission form (either undergraduate or postgraduate). Submissions should answer all questions and provide supporting material which is instrumental in helping our judges to assess the projects.
Q: How many projects can I submit?
A: You can submit only one project.
Q: Can we submit a group project?
A: We accept group as well as individual projects as long as you have approval from your mentor.
Q: What topic should my project cover?
A: Students are invited to design and develop an intelligent solution around the 2018 theme of “Smart Transport for Intelligent Cities”.
Students from all disciplines are invited to enter, provided the above heme is being addressed. As a guide, projects can cover (but are not limited to) the following areas:
- Road safety
- Smart mobility
- Artificial Intelligence & transportation
- ITS (including telecoms)
- Transportation system (including logistics)
- Renewable energy
Q: Is it a must to get the project verified by a mentor?
A: Yes, you must get your project verified by a mentor.
Q: Is there any cost to submit?
A: There is no cost for a student to submit their project to the competition. Finalists are required to cover all their own expenses (including travel and accommodation)
Q: When is the final deadline?
A: The submission deadline is Monday, 1st October 2018. There will be NO deadline extension.
Q: I am a part-time student. Can I still submit?
A: Yes, part-time students are eligible to submit, as long as they are currently enrolled in an Undergraduate / Postgraduate course.
Q: I’m in my first year of an undergraduate degree course, can I submit?
A: Yes, you can submit in the undergraduate category.
Q: When will the shortlisted project be announced?
A: Shortlisted projects will be announced by Sunday, 4th November 2018
Q: Can I include images/graphs in my project?
A: Yes, images and supporting material are instrumental in helping our judges assess each project.
Q: Is there any restriction on the file size for my supporting material?
A: A total combined size should not exceeding 5MB. You may only submit files in the following formats gif, jpg/jpeg, tif/tiff, word, pdf.
